The Honorable (SENATOR/REPRESENTATIVE) U.S. SENATE/U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ADDRESS

Dear (SENATOR/REPRESENTATIVE LAST NAME):

On behalf of the Home Safety Council (HSC), I am writing to you to ask for your support of (S. 512-SENATE OR H.R. 1131-HOUSE) , the Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act of 2005. We need your support on this issue and hope you will strongly consider co-sponsoring this legislation. Working with the Congressional Fire Services Institute, HSC serves on its National Advisory Committee.

Injuries from fires are the third leading cause of unintentional home injury death and the majority of fire and burn deaths are associated with residential fires according to HSC’s State of Home Safety in America TM study - an HSC commissioned report conducted by the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Injury Prevention Research Center.

HSC strongly supports the Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act of 2005. As an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, they are solely dedicated to preventing home-related injuries that result in nearly 20,000 deaths and 21 million medical visits each year. Through national programs, partnerships and the support of volunteers, HSC educates people of all ages to keep them safer in and around their homes.

The Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act of 2005 will meet those vital safety goals and I believe passage is urgently needed to address the devastating effect of fires now and in the future. Please consider supporting the Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act of 2005.

Sincerely,
