ALL-WAYS FIRE SAFE AT HOME TOOLBOX More than 6 Million Reached to Date The Home Safety Council recently introduced a community education toolbox filled with home fire safety educational materials for four populations. Funded in part through a 2005 Fire Prevention and Safety Grant and produced in conjunction with Weekly Reader, the All-Ways Fire Safe at Home toolbox has been distributed to daycare centers, elementary and middle schools, and senior centers, reaching more than 6 million. Excellent Ratings Sample findings of the independent evaluation of the materials: 100% of middle school teachers rated the Fire Science curriculum featuring residential fire sprinklers as “excellent” or “above average”. Nearly 1.3 million families of 2nd graders created and/or practiced home fire escape plans, 1.22 million families tested smoke alarms, and 1.37 million smoke alarm batteries were replaced. More than 98% of senior centers reported they have already or will soon use the materials.
