Home Safety - Lynette Sappe-Watkins

Lynette Sappe-Watkins was appointed Director of Development for the Home Safety Council in April 2007, and currently leads all fundraising initiatives and sponsor outreach. She brings significant fundraising expertise coupled with a strong commitment to health and safety to the Home Safety Council executive team.

Sappe-Watkins previously served as the Senior Development Officer for Leadership Giving with the American Red Cross National Headquarters, where she was responsible for managing cultivation strategies and donor relations for high level donors. In this position, she successfully raised more than $20 million in gifts to the National Disaster Relief Fund, America's Readiness Campaign, American Red Cross 125th Anniversary and the International Response Fund. In her previous position at the American Red Cross Greater Carolinas Chapter, she managed efforts to fund the chapter's service areas and served as a media spokesperson on chapter issues such as disaster preparedness and health and safety.

Her experience also includes working nine years with Ballston Common Mall in Arlington, Virginia managing and directing media placement and advertising campaigns for the shopping center. As part of her work, she developed corporate sponsorship opportunities for community events, developed alliances between complementary businesses, and created promotion opportunities for the center's vendors to generate additional revenue.

Lynette Sappe-Watkins earned her Bachelors Degree from the University of Georgia.
